I love cowboy boots but I don’t have a horse. I love biker jackets but I don’t have a bike.

When I’m not being a rock doctor, I sometimes dabble in other natural sciences, with a particular interest in wild flowers, birds and butterflies. I paint for relaxation - see examples below. However, my consuming passion outside work is music – performing, writing and recording. I’ve been active since the sixties (which I can’t remember of course) and have a had a few albums commercially released, principally of my home-grown Seventies stuff but also some more contemporary material.

Although I’m probably in profit on the music, giving up the day job is certainly not an option (or a desire). I play guitar, mandolin and other plucked instruments and can blag it on harmonica, sitar and keyboards. I’m getting better at recording technology and am making headway with modern software-based systems
